Forecaster: Gov. LePage, Legislators Back Smart Meter Opt-Outs

Gov. Paul LePage supports offering opt-outs to Central Maine Power Co. customers who do not want “smart” electric meters installed on their homes, reports The Forecaster, in a March 1 article.

In addition, Rep. Heather Sirocki (R-Scarborough) has submitted a bill that would require CMP to offer customers an alternative to the wireless meters.

  1. Various studies have shown that the “rays”emitted by these meters can be dangerous to persons who have electronic implants. My wife has a DBS (deep brain stimulator) to address the problems of Parkinson;s Disease. Therefore I would say that the so-called smart meters send out signals that are dangerous to those who need and use these devices. We have had personal experiences from rays and it was not good, in fact, they can lead to coma and even death! We oppose these and support any legislation to opt out.

  2. I live in wilton Maine the meter has already been installed on my house. How do I opt out now?
